Max Choi-Henslee is an animator and illustrator based out of Queens, NY. Their work is informed by Midwestern/Southern upbringing, family history, psychology, and internet culture. Further, their psychology research on trauma, sleep, dreams, and language permeates the themes of their work.
Their animation practice involves multimedia processes: hand drawn 2D traditional frames, Blender 3D, Blender grease pencil, and collage. They enjoy using these mediums to construct surreal worlds informed by autofictional narratives. Their films evoke curiosity, nostalgia, psychoanalysis, and absurdity.
